Pool Opening & Closing Services

Full Opening & Closing Services

If you plan to handle regular pool maintenance throughout the season but would like us to open and close your pool, our Full Opening/Closing option is right for you. We’ll take the drudgery of opening and closing your pool off your hands and provide the following services:

Full Opening (Spring/Summer)
  • Remove and fold cover
  • Clean and lubricate deck anchors
  • Start pump and filter, test heater and other equipment
  • Re-install handrails and/or ladders (if existing)
  • Replace pool returns and baskets
  • Initial chemical “shock” treatment
  • Quick vac service (more information below)

* Please Note: We do brush all pool surfaces to loosen any algae, getting it into the water and susceptible to the shock treatment. This also loosens up the silt that often gets stuck to the pool floor while sitting during the off-season.

Full Closing (Fall/Winter)
  • Filter cleaning
  • Removal of handrails and/or ladders (if existing)
  • Pool equipment and plumbing winterization, chemical treatment
  • Put on the cover

Partial Opening & Closing Services

If you generally handle the majority of your pool maintenance but would just like a little help with opening and closing, we have a Partial Opening/Closing program that fits the bill.

Partial Opening (Spring/Summer)
  • Start pump and filter, test heater and any other equipment
  • Replace pool returns and baskets
  • Initial chemical “shock” treatment
  • Quick vac service

* Please Note: Owner will remove cover and re-install handrails and/or ladders (if existing). We do brush all pool surfaces to loosen any algae, getting it into the water and susceptible to the shock treatment. This also loosens up the silt that often gets stuck to the pool floor while sitting during the off-season.

Partial Closing (Fall/Winter)
  • Filter cleaning (if we find the filter has been cleaned and reassembled, there will be a price reduction)
  • Pool equipment and plumbing winterization, chemical treatment

* Please Note: Owner will remove handrails and/or ladders (if existing) and put cover on after we finish winterization. If you need to cover your pool before your appointment, we will need to partially remove the cover at the closing to perform our partial closing.

Additional Opening & Closing Services

(Available for Full and Partial Service Customers)

  • Quick Vac

The Quick Vac service is the first step in the cleaning process and will help get your pool water sparkling and ready for swimming in no time! Quick vac includes up to 30 minutes of pool cleaning with an external power vac. These high-power vacuums allow us to remove leaves and larger debris from the pool floor much more quickly and easily than with a conventional vac. In the past, if leaves or other debris blocked the main drain, we had to leave it closed so that suction from the pump would not open the hydrostatic valve and cause water loss. Using a high-powered vacuum to get rid of large debris allows us to leave the main drains open at the pool opening. This provides increased water circulation which promotes faster clean up. It’s a win-win!

  • Leaf-trapper opening/closing
  • In-Floor Cleaning System opening/closing
  • Waterfall/Fountains opening/closing
  • Non-Safety Cover opening/closing

Water Lowering Service

(Available for Full and Partial Service Customers)

Water must be lowered for the closing.

  • We recommend lowering the water 18” below the top of the pool. This allows for rain to replenish the level to at least 18” below the cover before the snow and ice accumulate.
  • If your water level goes down further than 18″, your pool cover can stretch, rip or cause damage to cover springs and anchors.
  • Rain and snow will fill the pool over the winter.  Continue to monitor your pool water level, insuring it is below the tile line, yet not more than 18” below the cover.
  • Pools with tarp covers must have the water level 2”-3″ below the skimmer.
  • Be sure not to lower the water too much in vinyl pools, the liner can float and cause serious problems.
